16th Australian Agronomy Conference

“Capturing Opportunities and Overcoming Obstacles in Australian Agronomy”

October 14-18, 2012
University of New England

2012 Conference

The 16th biennial conference of the Australian Society of Agronomy will be hosted by the University of New England and NSW Department of Primary Industries and held in the spring of 2012.

The conference will consist of invited and submitted papers, tours and social events.

Unlike earlier conferences posters will not be presented. They will be replaced by thumbnail presentations (3 minute presentation, 2 minute questions), since these were enthusiastically accepted at the 2010 conference in Lincoln, where we copied the idea from the New Zealand Grassland Association.

The committee believes that this gives a better opportunity for face-to-face contact between the presenter and the audience. Papers presented as thumbnails will be refereed and included in the Abstracts and Proceedings, and so count as normal Conference publications.

Stop Press:  Closing date for abstract submission extended until 14th February 2012

Stop Press:   Several student and one young farmer scholarships will be available for attendees who fit into these categories.  Applications will open sometime in May/June. These scholarships will have a value of $1000 and will be awarded competitively to students who submit a paper to the conference and to a young farmer who registers for the conference. Further details will be available closer to the time.
